The Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (ASAAP) is committed to promoting health and education to the South Asian community about HIV/AIDS in languages they understand best. Welcome to ASAAP CHAI. Did you know that the green tea leaves used to make chai is a powerful antioxidant and can also help to reduce cholesterol? This is our mission for this website - to provide Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Information (CHAI).
ASAAP takes pride in identifying the needs of our South Asian PHAs. We clearly saw the need to make treatment information, easy to understand and more readily accessible. On this website you will find the most current information regarding medication and self care, including complementary therapies. The website has treatment info factsheets in Tamil and Punjabi. We are looking at including other South Asian languages to the list. It will also provide a venue for those looking for new coping strategies as well as those who have just started medications and are committing to a long, hard, yet successful battle.
Managing HIV is a full time job for anyone. Now imagine going to work and not being able to communicate with anyone. It takes little thought to determine how low your efficiency on the job would be. This is the daily struggle of South Asians living with HIV who cannot access services in a language that they can understand.
